After more than a decade of leading the foodie revolution in South Africa with its delectably indulgent content, Woolworths TASTE magazine celebrates its 100th issue with a collector’s issue and limited-edition wine.
For any magazine to make it to 100 issues takes creativity, endurance and a ton of experts who know how to get it just right, every time.
Irna van Zyl, New Media Publishing founder and executive director, who oversaw the creation of TASTE, says the title’s success is based on fantastic content created by a top team who understand the needs of both client and reader.

To mark the 100th issue, Cape Wine Master and wine consultant Allan Mullins collaborated with Spier wine master Frans Smit to create the TASTE One Hundred White Blend.
Editor Sumien Brink says it’s a wonderful milestone for a magazine.
‘I don’t think there’s an aspect of South African food we haven’t written about in this magazine, but we’ve also evolved into a full lifestyle magazine for the discerning reader. The team is incredibly proud to have reached this point, but without our readers’ loyalty and passion, it would have been much less fun. And we wanted something special for our readers as a gesture of our thanks.’
In another plus for readers, the editorial team has compiled the TASTE 100 List, a collection of favourite food finds, tips, products, books, ingredients and people and curated the most popular recipes featured in TASTE in the past 99 issues on TasteMag.co.za
As if that weren’t enough, TASTE has drawn global recognition, being named a finalist for two Pearl Awards in New York in the Business to Consumer category: Best Cover and Best Overall Design. Winners are to be announced on 11 November.
