New Media is proud to announce its partnership with SuperSport's Let’s Play programme.

Through its Let's Play CSI initiative, SuperSport aims to encourage and support young children from across Africa to be physically active, and provide opportunities for play through the provision of equipment and facilities.

As media partners, New Media will assist Let’s Play with exciting new projects that will help spread the message.
Let's Play aims to increase sport participation in schools; mitigate crime in schools; reduce substance and alcohol abuse; improve the general physical fitness of our children; reduce risky sexual behaviour through sport participation; transform schools into ‘child-friendly’ environments and improve learning by adding exercise to children’s lifestyles.
The programme engages with tens of thousands of children every week at coaching clinics at about 2 500 primary schools in nine provinces across the country.

Objectives for Let’s Play

  • To better the lives of young underprivileged children.
  • To raise awareness among the general public of the path to the healthy development of youth through their participation in sport.
  • To encourage communities, organisations and individuals to become actively involved themselves in Let’s Play.

Why Let's Play?

  • Statistics reveal that children in South Africa, in line with global trends, are alarmingly inactive.
There is an overweight and obesity prevalence of 13,5%* for South African children aged 6-14 years.
Children’s lifestyles are increasingly influenced by adult social problems: inactivity, poor nutrition, smoking and alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Children have forgotten – or have not been taught – how to play.
  • Children are growing up without the benefits that regular activity offers.
